Watch: How to permanently fix a leaking pipe when pressure cannot be turned off with a SylWrap Pipe Repair Kit

Fix a leaking pipe with SylWrap Universal Pipe Repair Kit

Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape seals the initial hole or crack. Wrap & Seal is self-amalgamating and stretches by 300 percent. It fuses to form a solid rubber band when wrapped tightly around a pipe, which contains the leak.

The application begins by anchoring Wrap & Seal 50mm to the side of the leak area. Wrapping then takes the tape towards the hole or crack with a 50 percent overlap. Once Wrap & Seal reaches above the leak, wrapping continues directly over the hole to build up a ridge.

Each layer of Wrap & Seal increases the amount of pressure over the leak by the tape, diminishing the flow of water. If the pipe is still leaking at the end of one tape, more Wrap & Seal are applied until the leak is fully sealed. Multiple Wrap & Seal will fuse together, capable of building pressure resistance to 30 bar.

Once there is no water escaping the pipe, the repair moves onto stage two and reinforcement with a SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage.

SylWrap is a water-activated composite wrap with a fast-working resin. Dipping the bandage in water for five seconds activates the resin. SylWrap is then wrapped along the pipe with a 50 percent overlap.

As it is wrapped, the bandage is smoothed down in the same direction as it is being wrapped to maintain tightness. Within a few minutes, SylWrap will harden into a rock-hard impact resistant shell encompassing the pipe. The repair is complete once the bandage has set.

Repairs are effective on pipes of all diameters and substrates. They are temperature resistant to 200ºC and effective on pipes carrying hot and cold water and chemicals.
