Repairs can be made in under 30 minutes to pipes of all sizes made from steel, stainless steel, copper, malleable iron, GRP, ceramic, most plastics, clay, concrete, rubber and lead.

The Contractor Case seals leaks on difficult elbow joints, tee joints, welded joints and other challenging, non-straight pipe sections – offering a flexible alternative to heavy, bulky pipe repair clamps.

Repairs are pressure resistant up to 30 bar, temperature resistant to 200ºC and effective on pipes carrying hot water and chemicals. Leak sealing products in the Contractor Case have WRAS Approval, meaning they are certified to British standards as safe to use with drinking water.

How to make an emergency pipe repair with a SylWrap Contractor Case

The SylWrap Pipe Repair Contractor Case contains two sealing materials – Superfast Steel Epoxy Putty and Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape – and a SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage.

Superfast Steel for offline pipe repair

Superfast Steel is a fast-working epoxy putty in a pre-measured stick which seals holes and cracks in pipes where water pressure can be turned off. It also removes step from joints and improves the condition of pitted pipe surfaces prior to the application of Wrap & Seal.

Users knead the epoxy putty by hand until it turns a uniform grey colour. It is then pushed into cracks whilst soft. Within 5-10 minutes, Superfast Steel hardens to form a solid, watertight material filling the hole.

When pipe reprofiling, Superfast Steel is pressed firmly onto the area requiring improvement. It creates a flat, smoother surface which is easy to apply Wrap & Seal onto.

Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape for online pipe repair

Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape is a self-amalgamating waterproof pipe repair tape capable of sealing live leaks. An online repair starts by anchoring Wrap & Seal next to the leak. It is then wrapped directly over the leak area.

The tape stretches by 300 percent its length. It fuses into a solid rubber band as it is wrapped towards and then directly over the leak. The rubber band exerts pressure over the leak to contain pipe content.

Additional tapes applied on top of each other will amalgamate in the same way. Multiple Wrap & Seals can build a live leak repair resistant up to 30 bar.

Contractor Cases covering pipework in excess of 150mm include additional SylPad Pressure Resistance Multiplier.

SylPad used in conjunction with Wrap & Seal better concentrates the elastic force of the tape directly over holes up to 20mm on larger diameter pipes.

Using SylPad multiplies pressure resistance by up to three times. This enables a faster repair by reducing the number of tapes needed.

Reinforcement with SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage

The second and final stage of the repair is reinforcement with SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage after application of the sealing material.

Wetting the bandage activates the resin. The bandage is then wrapped around the pipe and smoothed with water. It sets within 5 minutes to provide a rock-hard, impact-resistant layer of protection for a permanent repair.

Wrap & Seal Repair Calculator

The below Wrap & Seal Calculator recommends the number of Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tapes required to seal a live leak based on pipe diameter and pressure.

Enter the diameter of the pipe in millimetres, water pressure and the size of the hole requiring sealing in millimetres. The safety factor is a multiple to include a margin of safety. For example, if pipe pressure is 5 bar and you want a safety factor of two, the calculator will formulate a repair capable of withstanding 10 bar.

After entering your data, selecting the size of Wrap & Seal determines how many of that specific tape are required for your repair. Repairs to pipes in excess of 150mm diameter using Wrap & Seal PB-50x4m or PB-50x11m should be made in conjunction with SylPad.

Calculations serve as a guide to potential maximum pressure resistance only. Actual pressure resistance depends upon pipe material, condition, hole size, leak type and tension maintained during wrapping. If you are unsure, more than one Wrap & Seal can be used to stop the leak.
