Live leak repair on a 6″ elbow joint
A pinhole live leak repair carried out on a 6″ elbow joint at a pumping station in Malaysia.
Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape is used to seal the leak and then overwrapped with a SylWrap Pipe Repair Bandage. The bandage is water activated and sets rock hard for an impact resistant layer.
These products are available as part of the Universal Pipe Repair Kit (single repair) and the Pipe Repair Contractor Case (multiple repairs).
High pressured live leak repair on a steel pipe
A live leak demonstration at a water utility company’s depot carried out as part of the Sylmasta Pipe Repair Roadshow 2020.
The highly pressurised leak was sealed using Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape and overwrapped with a Pipe Repair Bandage.
As a result of this demo, the water company in question approved the use of SylWrap Contractor Cases on their vans, enabling their contractors to permanently fix live leaks as soon as problems are identified.

Emergency repair of a pressurised leak (part one)
Two videos from the Sylmasta laboratory demonstrating how to carry out an emergency live leak pipe repair even when pressure cannot be turned off.
The repair in question was to a 3mm pinhole on a 4″ 316L stainless steel pipe.
Part one shows the application of Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape being stretched to the required amount and self-fusing to seal the leak.
Emergency repair of a pressurised leak (part two)
Part two of the stainless steel pipe repair demonstration shows the application of the SylWrap Bandage over the initial pipe repair.
The bandage is water activated and sets in 30 minutes, providing a rock-hard, impact resistant layer over the Wrap & Seal. This ensures the repair is permanent.
The products involved in these two videos are available in the Universal Pipe Repair Kit (single repair) and the Pipe Repair Contractor Case (multiple repairs).
Repair of a 4″ stainless steel pipe with water pressure off
A repair carried out in the Sylmasta laboratory to a 3mm pinhole in a 4″ stainless steel pipe with pressure turned off.
Superfast Epoxy Putty Stick is hand-kneaded and used to plug the hole in the pipe. The putty is then overwrapped with a SylWrap Bandage, turning the repair into a permanent solution.
These two products are available as part of the Standard Pipe Repair Kit for fixing leaking pipes where water flow can be isolated.
