Superfast Aqua Potable Water Epoxy Putty Stick –
For Wet and Underwater Pipe Repair
Superfast Aqua Potable Water is a fast-working epoxy putty in a 114g stick with a specialist formulation for wet surface and underwater pipe repair applications.
It offers very high adhesion in damp, wet, saltwater and freshwater conditions to pipework made of steel, iron, copper, PVC plastic, GRP, ceramic and concrete. It is suitable for both domestic and industrial repairs, temperature resistant to 150°C and pressure resistant to 30 bar
Superfast Aqua PW seals holes and cracks. It rebuilds small areas of damage left weakened by exterior attack. Superfast Aqua PW also reprofiles pipes by smoothing out pitting and removing difficult shapes, like edges and steps.
It has WRAS approval, meaning it is certified to British standards as safe to use on pipes carrying drinking water. Pipework can go back into full service within two hours of repair using Superfast Aqua PW.
As well as water, Superfast Aqua PW is resistant to chemicals and does not rust. It contains no solvents or VOC’s, is non-flammable and releases no noxious fumes. It will not shrink or pull away. Any unused putty stays fresh for future use when saved in its original packaging.
Once reaching a full cure after 24 hours, Superfast Aqua PW can be tapped, drilled, screwed, sawed, machined, ground, filed or painted to create a seamless finish uniform with the pipe undergoing repair.
Unlike most other suppliers of pipe repair products, Sylmasta make all their own epoxy putty sticks using the latest manufacturing technology at their production plant in the United Kingdom. This guarantees fresh product, a reliable supply chain and reduced lead times.

How to make a wet surface or underwater pipe repair with Superfast Aqua Potable Water Epoxy Putty Stick
Superfast Aqua PW Stick comes pre-measured with the correct 1:1 ratio of resin to hardener. The user simply cuts the required amount of putty from the stick and kneads by hand.
The two contrasting colours blend into a uniform white to indicate successful mixing. Whilst Superfast Aqua PW Epoxy Putty is still soft, the user then pushes it into the crack or hole in pipework.
Superfast Aqua PW has a work life of approximately 5 minutes. It hardens within 10-15 minutes to form a solid, watertight material sealing the hole.
It achieves light handling strength in one hour, working strength after two to four hours and a full cure with maximum properties in 24 hours.
When pipe reprofiling or rebuilding damage by increasing the outer wall thickness of weakened sections, the users presses Superfast Aqua PW firmly onto the area requiring improvement. It cures to create a flat, smooth surface.
Reinforcement with SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage
Sylmasta recommend reinforcing wet and underwater pipe repairs made with Superfast Aqua PW by overwrapping the epoxy putty with a SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage.
SylWrap HD is a water-activated composite wrap. It sets rock-hard in minutes to form an impact resistant layer of protection covering Superfast Aqua PW for a permanent repair.
Slower setting epoxy putty for wet and underwater pipe repair
For complex underwater or wet surface pipe repair applications requiring longer than 5 minutes to mix and apply epoxy putty, please see Sylmasta AB Original Epoxy Putty.
AB Original comes with a two-hour work time. The extended cure means the user does not need to rush mixing or application through worry about the putty curing off too quickly.

Flange leak repair using Superfast Aqua PW to bond a valve to a saturated pipe
Demonstration video showing Superfast Aqua PW repairing a leaking flange where pressure is on and water is leaking through at 2 bar pressure.
Superfast Aqua PW permanently fixes a valve fitting to the flange, achieving a strong bond even with the pipe surface saturated.
The leak path is now channelled through the fitting. Tapping off the valve subsequently seals the leak to contain pipe content.
Live leak repair method using no wraps or clamps developed for Malaysia
Sylmasta developed this repair method for a project in Malaysia. Vast underwater pipes needed sealing but were impossible to either wrap or fit a pipe repair clamp around.
The demonstration saw a hole cut into a 150mm steel pipe with operating pressure set at 5 bar.
Superfast Aqua PW bonded a threaded PVC pipe fitting over the leak. A valve was then screwed onto the fitting, sealing the pipe.
How to mix and apply an epoxy putty stick for quick and easy pipe repair
This general instructional video shows the best method to thoroughly mix and apply an epoxy putty stick.
The required amount of putty is cut from the stick. It is kneaded by constantly rolling and folding between the palms of the hands for at least four minutes.
Once the putty has turned a streak free and a uniform colour, it is ready to be applied to the pipe.
