Composite Pipe Repair Wrap
Stage 4 of the Sylmasta Pipe Refurbishment System
A composite pipe repair wrap provides a final, rock-hard, impact resistant layer of protection to pipework. It reinforces previous stages of repair, refurbishes older or worn pipes, and strengthens and extends the lifespan of systems.
The composite layer will usually be provided by a SylWrap Pipe Repair Bandage. SylWrap features a water-activated resin which cures within minutes. To apply SylWrap, the user simply dips the bandage in water and wraps it around the pipework.
SylWrap HD is for general pipe reinforcement and increasing hoop strength. It has WRAS approval, meaning it is certified as safe to British standards to use on pipes carrying drinking water.
SylWrap CR has additional corrosion inhibitors for protecting pipes and structures in harsh environments from environmental and marine corrosion. It also contains below 0.1% diisocyanate, as does SylShield Pipe Weld & Protection Wrap.
SylShield is three times the thickness of SylWrap. It protects pipelines and welds subjected to intense installation processes or operating in the most abrasive of environments. The extreme thickness enables layers of protection to be built more quickly with less wrapping required.
SylWrap HD, SylWrap CR and SylShield all contain less than 0.1% free diisocyanate. This means they are not covered by the 2023 EU and UK REACH legislation governing the safe use of diisocyanates and require no mandatory safety training before use.
For more complicated repairs where a wrap cannot be applied such as around complex pipe fittings or tanks, a E190 Epoxy Composite Repair Kit containing Sylmasta E190 Brushable Epoxy Resin and Fibreglass Tape is used.
Strips of Fibreglass Tape are coated with E190 Epoxy, in effect creating a composite bandage applied in layers as a patch repair rather than via wrapping. This allows different areas to be repaired in the same application, as well as greater control over the repair and curing process.
In applications where very high chemical or temperature resistance is required, Sylmasta can formulate and supply specialist epoxy resin in place of E190. For more information, please contact Sylmasta.

SylWrap HD is a low diisocyanate, WRAS approved pipe repair bandage for reinforcing and strengthening pipes of all materials. It increases pressure resistance, chemical resistance and hoop strength.

SylWrap CR is a pipe repair bandage infused with corrosion inhibitors to further protect pipes in harsh, aggressive environments including marine and underwater against substrate corrosion.

SylShield Pipe Weld & Protection Wrap
SylShield is three times the thickness of SylWrap. It is used to protect welds and pipelines which are subjected to intense installation processes or operate in highly abrasive environments.

E190 Epoxy Composite Repair Kit
Kit containing high-strength Sylmasta E190 Brushable Epoxy Resin and Fibreglass Tape. When used in conjunction, the two products enable more versatile patch repairs to complex sections of pipework or tanks where direct wrapping with a bandage is not possible.
