Sylmasta manufacture SylWrap SC Super Conformable Pipe Repair Bandage to enable more effective repairs for pipework consisting of difficult shapes and complex geometries like elbow bends, tee sections, step joints, flanges and reducing spools.

Most composite repair wraps like SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage are rigid fabrics containing high-density fibres. They are engineered for strength first and foremost, rather than tight conformity to pipework.

As Sylmasta explain and show in the above video, SylWrap SC is different. The fabric has a special knitted open weave, making it as flexible as possible. This allows SylWrap SC to conform around tight angles, fit into crevices and encapsulate challenging joints.

How to use SylWrap SC Super Conformable Pipe Repair Bandage

Dipping SylWrap SC in water for a few seconds activates the resin. The user then wraps the bandage tightly around the pipe requiring repair or strengthening with a 50 percent overlap where possible. It will follow all contours across the pipe.

Smoothing SylWrap SC down with further water during wrapping helps it adhere tightly to the pipe surfaces and produces a full cure. Adding additional SylWrap SC Bandages creates a super conformable repair over long sections of pipe.

Wrapping a pipeline with SylWrap SC will increase pressure resistance, chemical resistance and hoop strength because it creates a thick, rock-hard shell around the pipe.

The shield provided by SylWrap SC protects the original substrate, extending the lifespan of systems and reducing the chances of the pipe leaking or requiring future repair.

Additionally, SylWrap SC can reinforce leak and damage repairs made using epoxy putties, pastes, coatings and pipe repair tapes by providing an impact resistant sleeve over the initial sealant.

SylWrap SC reinforces and repairs pipes of any diameter made from steel, stainless steel, copper, malleable iron, GRP, ceramic, most plastics, clay, concrete, rubber and lead can be repaired and reinforced using SylWrap SC.

In this demonstration video, we wrap SylWrap SC over a step joint and around a bend. There is also a Wrap & Seal leak repair which left a significant rubber mass bonded to the pipe.

Despite all the contours, the completed SylWrap SC repair left fantastic uniformity across the entire pipe surface.
