

SylWrap SC Pipe Repair Bandage
SylWrap SC Super Conformable Pipe Repair Bandage is a water-activated composite wrap with a special knitted open weave, making it is as flexible as possible for more effective application on pipework with complex geometries.
Whereas the high-density fibres of SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage are rigid and can struggle to conform around tight angles and sharp changes in geometry, SylWrap SC fits into crevices and encapsulates difficult joints and contours more easily.
SylWrap SC is ideal for wrapping around elbows, tees, steps, flanges and reducing spools. Applying it to a pipe increases pressure resistance, chemical resistance and hoop strength – extending the lifespan of systems.
It will also reinforce leak and damage repairs made using epoxy putties, pastes, coatings or pipe repair tapes by providing a thick, rock-hard and impact resistant layer over the initial sealant.
The fast-working resin in SylWrap SC begins to cure within minutes, allowing for rapid repairs. It is temperature resistant to 250°C and effective on pipes of all sizes made of steel, stainless steel, copper, malleable iron, GRP, ceramic, most plastics, clay, concrete, rubber and lead.
How to make a flexible repair to a complex pipe shape with SylWrap SC
SylWrap SC is easy to use. Dipping the flexible pipe repair bandage into water activates the resin. It is then wrapped tightly around the pipework which requires strengthening or protection.
Further water is used to smooth SylWrap SC down as the application continues, ensuring the bandage fully conforms to the pipe. Once the resin has cured, the finished repair will offer fantastic uniformity.
SylWrap SC has a work time of 2-5 minutes. A functional cure is achieved in 30 minutes and a full cure with maximum properties in 24 hours.

Enter the diameter of the pipe in millimetres, the length of the area requiring wrapping and the operating pressure of the pipeline. The safety factor is a multiple to include a margin of safety. For example, if pipe pressure is 5 bar and you want a safety factor of two, the calculator will formulate a repair capable of withstanding 10 bar.

This video shows how the knitted open weave of SylWrap SC enables the bandage to better conform around difficult pipe shapes.
SylWrap SC was wrapped along a section of test pipe around a step joint, an elbow bend and a large, bulky rubber mass left behind by a Wrap & Seal live leak repair.
Despite the contours across the pipe, SylWrap SC showed fantastic uniformity to leave the line encompassed with a rock-hard shell.
