Damage Repair and Pipeline Strengthening
Stage 2 of the Sylmasta Pipe Refurbishment System
The Damage Repair Stage provides pipeline strengthening for lines which have been weakened, degraded or suffered external damage caused by corrosion, chemical attack or other environmental factors.
Applying epoxy paste or putty to the exterior surface of a pipe restores integrity and surface profile, rebuilds outer wall thickness and brings a line back up to specification.
Where pitting or other damage is present, epoxies fill in and repair the damage. They also provide full contact and load spreading between the pipe and the composite wrap (added at Stage 4 of the Sylmasta Pie Refurbishment System), further strengthening the repair.
Industrial Metal Epoxy Paste and Titanium HT Supergrade Epoxy Paste are used for the strengthening of large areas of metal or plastic pipeline. They are spread over the weakened section with a hand tool, curing to reinforce the original line.
Both contain corrosion resistant platelets for an ultra smooth finish. Titanium HT is formulated for high temperature repair and offers high compressive strength.
Epoxy putties are applied by hand. Sylmasta AB Original Epoxy Putty rebuilds large areas of damage on all substrates. It makes underwater repairs and can be used as a sacrificial layer in chemically aggressive environments.
AB Original has a two-hour work time, allowing for greater quantities of Putty to be mixed and more careful application without the threat of premature curing. The longer work time makes it ideal for use in warmer climates.
For faster repairs of large areas, Sylmasta AB Rapid has a 5-minute work time but with less chemical and corrosion resistance than AB Original. 114g Superfast Epoxy Putty Sticks quickly rebuild smaller areas of damage, with Superfast Titanium used for extreme temperature applications.
Industrial Metal has been independently tested to BS 6920 standard. When used with a SylWrap Pipe Repair Bandage, it is certified to British standards as safe to use with potable water. Superfast Steel and Superfast Aqua PW have WRAS approval for making repairs to pipes carrying drinking.

Industrial Metal is a metal-filled epoxy paste applied with a putty knife or hand tool to rebuild large areas of weakened metal and plastic pipes. It is reinforced with corrosion resistant platelets and makes BS 6920 compliant repairs when used with SylWrap HD.

Titanium Supergrade HT Epoxy Paste
Titanium Supergrade HT is an alloy-reinforced epoxy paste with very high compressive strength. It has a three-hour work time and is applied with a putty knife or hand tool to rebuild large areas of weakened pipes operating at extreme temperatures up to 250°C.

Sylmasta AB Original Epoxy Putty
Sylmasta AB is a ceramic-filled epoxy putty with a two-hour work time which is hand applied to rebuild pipes of all materials. It is suitable for underwater applications, and can be used as a sacrificial layer in chemically aggressive environments.

Sylmasta AB Rapid 5 Minute Epoxy Putty
Sylmasta AB Rapid combines the cure speed of 114g Superfast Epoxy Putty Sticks with the bulk quantity availability of Sylmasta AB Original. It is hand applied to rebuild damaged pipes of all materials and offers good chemical resistance.

Superfast Steel Epoxy Putty Stick
Superfast Steel is a WRAS approved, steel-filled epoxy putty in a ready-to-use 114g stick. A rapid work time allows small areas of damaged steel and other pipelines constructed of ferrous metal to be rebuilt and strengthened in under five minutes.

Superfast Aqua Potable Water Epoxy Putty Stick
Superfast Aqua Potable Water is a WRAS approved epoxy putty with a specialist formulation enabling very high wet surface adhesion. It comes in a ready-to-use 114g stick and rebuilds small areas of damage on underwater pipes and structures
