The SylWrap Drain & Waste Pipe Repair Kit is a specialist kit for facilities management teams, drain repair companies and other end-users who frequently seal cracked cast iron and plastic pipework in public, commercial and residential buildings.
It permanently repairs leaking drain, waste and soil pipes between 32mm and 150mm diameter (1¼ – 6″) in under 30 minutes, even when water is leaking through.
Repairs are effective on difficult elbow joints, tee joints, welded joints and other challenging, non-straight pipe sections – offering a flexible alternative to heavy, bulky pipe repair clamps.
The Kit comes in a robust red card which is easy to keep on-site on on the van. It contains enough products to make multiple repairs, providing a cost-effective and convenient solution for users regularly fixing cracked drain and sewer pipes.
As soon as a waste, drain or sewer pipe cracks, the user simply reaches for their Kit, where they will find everything needed to make an instant repair.
This rapid response minimises disruption in hospitals, office blocks, leisure centres, car parks and other facilities where cast iron and plastic pipework is widespread.
How to seal cracked cast iron or plastic pipework with a SylWrap Drain & Waste Pipe Repair Kit
The SylWrap Drain & Waste Pipe Repair Kit contains four different sealing materials and SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandages for use in the final stage of the application.
Superfast Steel seals small holes and cracks
Superfast Steel is a fast-working epoxy putty in a pre-measured stick which seals holes and cracks in pipes where water pressure can be turned off. It also removes step from joints and improves the condition of pitted pipe surfaces prior to the application of Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape.
Users knead the epoxy putty by hand until it turns a uniform grey colour. It is then pushed into cracks whilst soft. Within 5-10 minutes, Superfast Steel hardens to form a solid, watertight material filling the hole.
When pipe reprofiling, Superfast Steel is pressed firmly onto the area requiring improvement. It creates a flat, smoother surface which is easy to apply Wrap & Seal onto.
CrackSeal fills large cracks and longitudinal splits
CrackSeal seals larger cracks and longitudinal splits. It extrudes from its cartridge using a standard sealant gun (not included with the Kit) directly into the crack until totally filled. CrackSeal cures almost instantly, even on wet surfaces.
SplitFill Epoxy Adhesive repairs plastic pipework
SplitFill Epoxy Adhesive fills cracks and longitudinal splits in plastic pipework. The adhesive is mixed and spread over the split and surrounding area using a spatula. It will enter the split in the pipework and cure within 5 minutes, forming a gap filler.
Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape where water is leaking through
Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape is a self-amalgamating waterproof pipe repair tape capable of sealing live leaks. It seals cracks where a significant amount of water is leaking through as the repair takes place, such as a drainpipe stack whilst it is raining.
The tape stretches by 300 percent its length. It fuses into a solid rubber band as it is wrapped towards and then directly over the leak. The rubber band exerts pressure over the leak to contain pipe content.
Reinforcement with SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage
After sealing the crack, the pipe is reinforced with SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage. Wetting the bandage activates the resin.
The bandage is then wrapped around the pipe and smoothed with water. It will quickly set within 5 minutes to provide a rock-hard, impact-resistant layer of protection for a permanent repair.
SylWrap Drain & Waste Pipe Repair Kit sizes
There are five different variations of the Drain & Waste Pipe Repair Kit. Each Kit contains different SylWrap HD Bandage sizes for use on different sized pipes.

The Kit comes with white SylWrap HD Bandages as standard. Sylmasta can manufacture black SylWrap HD to make repairs appear more uniform with cast iron pipework. Please contact Sylmasta for more information.
Superfast Steel, Wrap & Seal and SylWrap HD all have WRAS Approval, meaning they are certified as safe to use on pipes carrying drink water. However, CrackSeal and SpitFill do not have WRAS Approval and cannot be used with potable water.

CrackSeal Sealant and SylWrap HD seal 450mm split in cast iron pipe
The products in the SylWrap Drain & Waste Pipe Repair Kit seal a 450mm split in a cast iron pipe in a demonstration at Sylmasta HQ.
CrackSeal Sealant was extruded directly into the crack and smoothed off using a spatula before it fully hardened. SylWrap HD was then wrapped down the length of the pipe to reinforce the repair.
When a bucket of water was poured into the pipe after the application, nothing leaked through – showcasing the strength of the repair.
Cast iron pipe repair with water leaking through resistant to 10 bar
Product testing at Sylmasta HQ assesses the live leak repair capability and pressure resistance of CrackSeal.
A horizontal split is cut into a cast iron pipe before being sealed with CrackSeal whilst water leaked through.
After allowing 24 hours for CrackSeal to reach maximum properties, the repair was pressure tested. It withstood up to 10 bar. The pipe was then wrapped with SylWrap HD for reinforcement.
